  • FEAR-MONGERS

Introduction: Fear is contagious. More than that: it behaves like a wildfire. It spreads wildly fast. People who fall into fear fling that fear outward like sparks, so that it is hard to escape. They try to infect everyone around them — and, sadly, they often succeed. Fear Mongers "Fear is a poor adviser" – who doesn't know that saying? And how true it is! Often, when someone wants to do something that isn't socially conform (whatever that may exactly mean), people try to intimidate them with fear. Someone is publicly shot and the message is clear: if you speak up, if you are there and communicate, you will be shot too. "Because we can, we do it." Or a team of heavily armed police with dogs is sent out at 6:00 in the morning just because someone issued mask exemption certificates to patients or publicly spoke out against the COVID madness. Or posted a meme about anything. So much disinformation is spread about how terrible, dangerous and "cult-like" Scientology is that hardly anyone dares even say the word at home anymore. The 9/11, terrorist attacks (which in my view here in the West are often organized by our own governments or para-armies), every war, all those diseases and epidemics — whether real or exaggerated – serve not only to create fear but, as I understand it, were created and staged precisely for that purpose. But what works on a large scale also happens on a small scale. Samichlaus [1] – or Saint Nicholas – was never meant to intimidate children or to turn them into obedient subjects through fear. [1] Samichlaus (Saint Nicholas) is a Swiss tradition celebrated on December 6th, where St. Nicholas visits families or community events to review children’s behavior and give small gifts such as nuts, mandarins, and chocolates. Traditionally, he was believed to magically know a child’s misdeeds throughout the year, and this was sometimes used by parents to encourage obedience. Today, the custom is generally practiced in a gentle, reflective spirit rather than as a source of fear. Beatings or threats are means to control by fear. The list could go on indefinitely. From my own life in Scientology I also know how often attempts were made to frighten me – or us Scientologists: "You will lose the Bridge or even your eternity." "You'll go to prison for copyright violations." "What? You want to go to Russia?!" The generation of fear continues to the present day, even within Scientology. Fear is contagious.  More than that: it behaves like a wildfire. It spreads wildly fast. People who fall into fear fling that fear outward like sparks, so that it is hard to escape. They try to infect everyone around them – and, sadly, they often succeed. What is most depressing, however, is when even those people pass on fear whom you would never have expected – people who should know better. Trust ranks high on the scale. Ron wrote a fascinating article about fear-mongers – a truly brilliant piece. It should be much better known. One could debate whether fear-mongers and other oppressive personalities are really badly dressed and unpleasant-smelling. Nowadays even a fear-monger can hardly afford such an appearance. Much of this text resonates with me and confirms my own observations – especially this passage: The society at large is so accustomed to association with MEST and the “merchant of fear” so closely approximates some of the characteristics of MEST that the public quite commonly misassigns strength to such aberrative personalities and thinks of them as strong people or as wise people. They are neither strong nor wise, and before an even indifferently forceful attack quickly capitulate. They live their whole lives in terror of attack. The motivation of fear-mongers is in truth their hidden or open fear of other people. For a long time they flee from something they cannot confront. My answer to how to deal with fear and fear-mongers is the Code of Honor. Breathe deeply and, in all calm, read the Code of Honor. For example, the point 14. "Be your own adviser, think things through for yourself and make your own decisions." Attached is the full Code of Honor , a great guide for living! Much love, Max Hauri On Human Behavior Professional Auuditor's Bulletin: P.A.B. No. 13 [1953, ca. mid-November] It greatly facilitates the work of the auditor to know the most aberrated and most aberrative types of personality. Kraepelin in Germany a long time ago made a long and varied psychotic classification. This has been refined and made, if anything, even more unwieldy in modern times. It is valueless since it does not lead to the immediate remedy of the situation. Further, we are not very interested in types. There is really no such thing as a special type of psychosis or neurosis, beyond those types which are quite aberrative around the preclear. If we could isolate a particular set of traits as being the most aberrative traits, we could more quickly process the preclear by using Acceptance Level Processing or Viewpoint Processing on such people. Probably the truly aberrative personalities in our society do not number more than five or ten percent. They have very special traits. Where you find in the preclear’s bank a person with one or more of these characteristics, you will have the person who most thoroughly tried the preclear’s sanity. What we will call the aberrative personality does the following things: Everything bad that happened to the preclear was (a) ridiculous, (b) unimportant, (c) deserved. Everything the preclear and others did to the aberrative person was (a) very important, (b) very bad, (c) irremediable. Those things which the preclear could do (a) were without real value, (b) were done better by the aberrative personality or by others. Sexual restraint or perversion. Inhibition of eating. Such people would be better understood if I called them the “merchants of fear.” The most degraded control operation of which the GE is capable is utilized by these people for their sole method of getting on in the world. They have lost all ability themselves to create, they cannot work themselves, they must either amass money which is never to be spent or must prevent others from amassing money. They produce nothing, they must steal one way or another, and then devaluate whatever they obtain. They speak very sternly of honesty or ethics and put on a formidable front of complete legality. They are impartial, which is to say they are incapable of decision but ride continually a maybe. They close terminals easily with courts, for courts are, sad to say, more or less of this disposition themselves. They feel called upon at no pretext to become adjudicative on subjects where their opinion has not been invited. Probably a society could be cleared and allowed to bloom if these people were simply rounded up and removed from contagion with the remaining populace, for they are not numerous. Yet they are in sufficient number that it is doubtful if your preclears who are more seriously badly off have not had at least one in their past. It is particularly true of the occluded case that he has been victimized by one of these “merchants of fear.” Although there are many characteristics which are undesirable in such aberrative people, it is remarkable that only those listed above are aberrative. These wind sinuously as a threatening thread through all of their conversations. Such people are a mixture of paradoxes to the observer who does not understand the basic ingredients of human character. Such people are themselves a continuous maybe, and therefore will be found very easily in the bank, for they appear most often. Where you find one, two or three people appearing almost continuously in the preclear’s bank, or his lamenting conversation, you will find that these people answer the above-numbered characteristics. The method of processing these people is to have the preclear mock them up in large masses with the certainty that they are there, and then, with them unmocked, with the certainty they are not there. Then, mocked up again, with the certainty that they will be in the future, and, unmocked, with the certainty they will not be in the future. One also runs the above concepts in masses and in brackets. A case cannot be said to be well so long as these aberrative personalities continue to reappear in his thoughts and processing. Therefore the auditor will find it extremely profitable to use all available means to process these people out of the preclear’s bank. When the auditor has succeeded in doing this, he will find that the preclear now believes himself to be very much better than before and, indeed, he will be. It should be remembered that such people have invited many overt acts. The “merchants of fear” specialize in being offended themselves and, even though the overt acts against them are slight, these have become magnified in the preclear’s bank until such people, on the overt act phenomenon alone, occupy a major role in the preclear’s thinking. It will often be discovered by the auditor that the preclear has “swapped terminals” with these aberrative persons. The weight of aberration is such that the preclear has been swung into the valence of such people, for they have obviously won. The truth of the matter is: such people never win. If one traces out these people, as I have done occasionally after processing a preclear, he will discover that the aberrative personality is very close to the brink of a crack-up, has a very low survival level, and quite commonly goes insane. It should be understood that anyone going down tone scale in moments of anger is apt to use the above-numbered steps one way or another. But this is a momentary thing; the above steps belong, of course, on the tone scale and are significant of a level on the tone scale. Thus, one going down tone scale into anger or into apathy, is inclined to use these operations momentarily. This is quite different from the aberrative personality. The aberrative personality is at work with this operation 24 hours a day. Ceaselessly, relentlessly, calculatingly, with full knowingness, the aberrative personality continues this onslaught against those around him. The entire computation of this aberrative personality is that he is worthless, he himself knows himself to be completely worthless. One might feel a little pity if the harm were not so great, for there is nothing more terrible than this knowledge. The aberrative personality feels he cannot succeed unless he drives others away from him with fear, preferably with terror. He assumes aspects of ugliness in matters of clothing; he is quite prone to ugliness. Very often this personality does not bathe, his breath is very often foul, his feet become odorous, the endocrine system has failed one way or another, the person has considerable bowel trouble. Other people than the aberrative personality occasionally manifest these difficulties; unfortunately, it all stems from the same idea – to drive other people away. The communication lag of the aberrative personality is his easiest clue. These people are slow to respond, they are very thoughtful about what they say. They “think twice before speaking once,” if they speak at all. When they do speak it is very often not on the subject. Their favorite phrase is “You do not understand.” They preface their statements with, “Well, I don’t know but…” There is no decision in such people; they do not know whether to go up the street or down the street. Put into a certain routine and forced into that routine they will carry on, but they do not themselves produce anything, they are entirely parasitic. This parasiticism is gained either by the inheritance or other accumulation of money or by a direct and forthright nullification of those around them into the status of slaves. For this person knows above all other things that he cannot produce an honest day’s work. Now in case you err and try to apply this classification too widely, there is one definite characteristic you must not overlook. This characteristic makes the difference between the aberrative personality and run-of-the-mill human beings. The secrecy computation is the clue. The best index to a secrecy computation is a refusal to be audited. Because of this factor of the secrecy computation, and for no other factor, it chances to follow that the aberrative personality can be known by his refusal to have any auditing of any kind, or, if he has any auditing, accepts it very covertly and will not permit it to have any effect upon him. He will not have a second session. He has all manner of excuses for this such as “altitude”, but in any way, shape or form he escapes auditing. If your preclear’s unwilling to be audited, he himself may fall into this classification. Because justice in this society prides itself upon impartiality, these impartial people – the aberrative personalities – are quite often listened to by those around them. The pose of being impartial is an effort to escape decision. People who get things done or who are worth anything to the society make decisions. The impartial people make no decisions if they can possibly avoid them, and at the very best put off decisions as long as possible, as in the case of a court of law. These people, being well downscale, are very close to MEST and have a very solid agreement with MEST. Very often you will find aberrative personalities addicted to religion, but the addiction will not be accompanied by any belief in the human spirit. Just how this paradox is accomplished a professed avowal of Christianity and a complete unwillingness to accept any effort to heal or help the human spirit as opposed to the body – is just another one of this bundle of paradoxes which mark the aberrative personality. For, you see, the person is such a complete maybe that anything about him is indecisive, and people trying to make up their minds about this person, of course, fall into the state of maybe, because that is the clue to the personality. Impartial personality –  the maybe personality – and the “merchant of fear” are more or less of the same order and are alike aberrative. Men in the field of the arts are very often victimized by these aberrative personalities. The “merchant of fear” closes terminals rapidly with any area which contains a great deal of admiration. Since the person is actually incapable of decision, this is a mechanical closure. The presence of admiration around anyone else begins to dissolve some of the completely stultified bank of the “merchant of fear” and this finds him very close to the source. Orchestra leaders, painters, writers are always having the terrible misfortune of closing terminals with such personalities. There is hardly a man of art or letters who does not bear on him the scar of having associated with a “merchant of fear,” for these are vampire personalities. They are themselves so starved of admiration and of sensation that they drink out of others around them any possible drop of admiration in any form. Where a woman becomes a “merchant of fear,” sexual starvation is continually attempting satiation and all the while the “merchant of fear” will protest and, to all visible signs, follow a life of complete celibacy. While it is not my purpose here to revile, I wish to impress upon the auditor that the “merchant of fear” is extremely dangerous, both to creative impulses and to sanity. One could say airily, “Why don’t we just audit these people upscale, since they are so few,” but these people will never present themselves for auditing and will discourage anyone else from having any auditing. A solution to the “merchant of fear” probably does not lie in the field of auditing. The society at large is so accustomed to association with MEST and the “merchant of fear” so closely approximates some of the characteristics of MEST – the maybe, for instance – that the public quite commonly misassigns strength to such aberrative personalities and thinks of them as strong people or as wise people. They are neither strong nor wise, and before an even indifferently forceful attack quickly capitulate. They live their whole lives in terror of attack. One often finds these characteristics in company with paresis or hears the aberrative personality has actually contracted a dreadful disease to add to his repulsiveness. The auditor should not err in thinking that these people always present a repulsive appearance; repulsive conduct precedes a repulsive appearance. At first they operate only mentally in trying to make everyone afraid. Then this begins to show up more and more in their own MEST and finally will demonstrate itself in their personal appearance. Thus one can mark the state of decay of these aberrative personalities. Now and then some violent man in one country or another has undertaken programs to rid a society of these points of contagion. Kings in olden times handled the problem by decapitating people who continually brought them bad news – this was a very wise measure. In more recent times it has been said that Gomez, late dictator of Venezuela, discovered that the contagion point of leprosy in the country was the beggar. He found that the beggars of Venezuela were using leprosy in order to beg. People would pay in order to have the ugly thing taken away from them (the basic philosophy of the beggar is to be paid to go away). Gomez had the beggars told that they were going to be taken to a very fruitful part of Venezuela and given a colony of their own; he had them collected on a river bank and loaded aboard two large river boats. The river boats proceeded into midstream, their crews left them in skiffs and the boats blew up with a resounding explosion. This was the end of leprosy in Venezuela. I am not telling you this to advocate the immediate slaughter of the “merchants of fear”; I am merely giving you an historical note. The extreme impatience of people trying to get something done in a society will eventually center upon those who will not work and, in the case of kings or tyrants, such people have very often been done away with. Thus the precedent is very old of a society cleansing itself by removing from its ranks the non-workers. Revolutions very often have this as an objective. The French Revolution recognized in the existing aristocracy a state of will-not-work, and saw in these people the character of the “merchant of fear,” and for several years there in France, shortly after America became free, the tumbrils formed an assembly line to the guillotine. People in societies are extremely punitive about those who will not work and about those who depend on fear for their sustenance. But society going downscale can become more and more apathetic toward the “merchant of fear” until the “merchant of fear” predominates as a class. Just as the king or the society revolted against the “merchant of fear,” so has your preclear tried to get the “merchant of fear” to work and to contribute something besides bad news. This effort, of course, was bent toward an organism which was already rotten at the core. Whether the “merchant of fear” used money or beauty to excuse his own lack of labor, only added to the maybe. The law forbade the preclear to use the measure of the tyrant or the Gomez, for the law is utterly infatuated with such people and defends them at every turn just as such people use almost exclusively the law. As your preclear was balked in his natural impulse to clear the way he was brought into staring recognition of the fact that the necessary act – murder – was halted by the existence of police and courts. This brought the preclear to the point where he conceived himself to be put upon by the society and the law. Many of your preclears, as a result of this, are startled to find, when it is run on them, that they believe themselves under arrest, even though any arrest they have been subjected to was as minor as a traffic pick-up. I am not advocating, again, violence; I am merely trying to explain to you the state of mind of the preclear and the most aberrative person he has confronted. He wanted to, and didn’t, kill these people. If your preclear is of the kind who produces or creates or who works and makes his way in the world in general, you can find the aberrative personality in his bank immediately by asking him – with an E-Meter, of course, because he probably won’t tell you direct – if he wanted to kill anyone. The E-Meter will say that he did, and on discovery of this identity the auditor will find the aberrative personality. This even follows through with women, although women go more quickly into apathy when confronted with an aberrative personality than do men. You should understand that the aberrative personality has not become an aberrative personality by being confronted by another aberrative personality. You are not getting here the pattern of stimulus-response, you are getting the decay of a human spirit to complete inactivity so that the entire modus operandi becomes that of the body itself, and a body, in the case of the aberrative personality, which itself is too deteriorated or exhausted to work. Not all bodies becoming so exhausted and unable to work turn into aberrative personalities, but the aberrative personality is born entirely out of the decline of the ability of the individual to produce. When the individual really recognizes his utter worthlessness to the society, he becomes an aberrative personality. Many people who cannot work physically turn to other lines of progress. They are getting on one way or another. The aberrative personality is so badly off that he can lead only a parasitic existence. You will understand, then, that people going down tone scale do not immediately and automatically become aberrative personalities, in our definition as here used. People become aberrative personalities out of a malevolence which insists on a high level of survival without the production of anything. L. Ron Hubbard

  • RON'S ORG LIBRARY

Library of Trinity College, Dublin Introduction: A monumental project undertaken by Scientologists around the world makes L. Ron Hubbard's Technology accessible. Discover the Ron's Org Library in just a few clicks! Ron's Org Library Dear friends, With this newsletter, I announce another milestone for Ron's Org: The Ron's Org Library : https://sciento.org The Ron's Org Library is so comprehensive that it is difficult to put into words. Where should I begin? First of all, before you get to the program itself and before you give up, please check your sacred spam filter or go to your junk folder to find your entry code. Search Well, you will find English, German, French, Russian, and Spanish materials. Whatever you are looking for, you can search by title and date, and you can also search the content. Just click on “ Search by File Name” or “ Content Search.” Enter the date in “Search”: 091070. Sometimes it is also helpful to reverse the date, i.e. 701009. You can also enter a title: What Is A Read and search for it that way. If you want to find an exact phrase in the text, you can put the text you are looking for in quotation marks “ What Is A Read” and click on “ Content Search”. You can also narrow down your search with advanced search operators. For example, if you are searching for “Needle” but do not want to see “Floating Needle” in the results, you can use -floating to exclude all titles that contain the word “Floating.” You can also set filters such as “ Language,” “Materials,” “Format,” “Dates” ; click “ Clear” to reset everything. Whenever you search for an item, you will most likely find it. Be aware that certain items, such as scanned volumes, can be many MBs in size and may take some time to download. The file size is indicated on the right-hand side. Not all materials have been translated, and not all materials have been converted into easily usable Word files.  Lectures At the top right, you will find “Lectures.” This is a really cool feature: you can listen to a lecture while the transcript runs synchronously. And if the lecture has been translated, the translation is displayed at the same time. The settings for the page are at the bottom, where you can also search for and select the lecture. Once you have found the lecture you want, click on the desired language on the right. If you only want to see the English transcript, click on “EN.”  Word Clearing: Double-click on the word and you will be taken to a dictionary. To return, use “Esc.” Courses Courses and course packs can still be found at https://stss.nl Updates We are still working on expanding the library and keeping it up to date, and there will be more and more translations. We are also working on providing the best audio recordings and, where possible, original, uncensored copies. Read Our Story On the home page, you will find my introductory article about this site. It is important that you read and duplicate it.  We are doing this because we want Scientology to be available for future generations. However, this does not depend on whether we have the materials, but whether we can duplicate and understand them, and above all, apply them. And even more importantly, that we are organized and a group. However, this is not about being compulsively connected and organized, but about the groups growing organically and us finding and connecting on an easy and high-toned level. Here is the text of Welcome in the Ron's Org Library Dear Reader, What you find in the Library of Scientology Materials is the collaborative work and effort of many individuals over the past decades. It is the product of dedicated Scientologists who recognize the incredible legacy L. Ron Hubbard has given to mankind and have taken responsibility for preserving and sharing it. They have a strong postulate and a hope to improve conditions on planet Earth. In 1990, I became a staff member again – this time as the Commanding Officer of a small Ron's Org – and I was faced with the seemingly insurmountable problem of the alleged copyright on Scientology materials. Back then, I made a simple decision: to make all of Ron’s materials available to everyone and distribute them widely for free. The basic computation was that the more people who possess and distribute the materials, the harder it becomes for the Church to bring us to court. In 2000, I discovered that the Church had never won a single copyright infringement case. It took me years of conversations, connections, and preparation to reach the next level: the launch of https://stss.nl Shortly before 2010,  https://stss.nl went live, and I uploaded a vast amount of Scientology materials. We were prepared to fight against the Church; however, the fight never came. Now, in 2025, we can proudly say that we have, in fact, preserved the full legacy of L. Ron Hubbard – and it is accessible to you. It is here to be applied. Being Connected Power is the condition of being connected. If you would like full access to the library, we kindly ask you to confirm your existence by providing a verified email address. You will receive occasional newsletters. Clarification and Warning This website is in no way a substitute for a course room. It is primarily a platform for research – a page for professionals who are well-trained. From extensive experience, I can confirm it is virtually impossible to properly train through self-study alone. Training must take place in a properly established org. That said, we do not – and will never – limit access to this page, whether you are trained or not, whether you are familiar with Scientology or not. It is crucial that there be full access to the non-confidential legacy of L. Ron Hubbard. Too much effort was spent trying to alter or erase this vital technology from existence. That must never happen again. However, a word of caution – and also a guideline for using this page: It contains the original materials, the revised and cancelled materials, and everything in between. It includes altered and "squirrel" tech, as well as tech that led to quickie rundowns, false declares, blows, refunds, repayments, and deep disappointments. The list of negative consequences is long, and Scientology has lost countless people because of it. This site contains no index to guide you on what to use or what to avoid. Correct training on standard tech is delivered in the Ron's Org. The Ron’s Org courses are built on decades of study, application, and refinement. They contain not only the correct materials in the correct sequence, but also the proper practical exercises. You won’t find those checksheets in this database. If you want proper training, you must enroll in a Ron's Org and train in a standard course room, as described in HCO PL 16 March 1971R – WHAT IS A COURSE . We will be pleased to train you in our orgs. One might ask whether simply identifying a key time period – such as mid to late 1972 – would suffice. While that period is significant, it does not capture the full picture. Many other factors, beyond the scope of this letter, must also be considered. Acknowledgments and Thanks An enormous amount of volunteer work went into making all this material accessible. It’s hard to estimate the time invested – it might well be over a million hours. The list of those who contributed is likely endless. Some gave half their lives to this cause; others scanned the few packs they had at home. It would be impossible to list everyone, and I would inevitably miss some names. But each one helped to find the missing pieces and complete the library. A few of these selfless, dedicated, and extraordinary individuals deserve special recognition. They have truly earned the title of Kha-Khan. Today, with the work accomplished, it is important to reflect on the more than 40 years during which the Church relentlessly pursued its suppressive claim to be the sole heir of Scientology and its copyrights. This is a “Church” that ruthlessly attacked anyone who dared to speak out against it – an organization with seemingly unlimited funds and resources, hiring private investigators to harass dissidents and retaining the most expensive lawyers to crush opposition. It is difficult to grasp the true risks these individuals faced. I know the stories – and the fates – of some who were destroyed by the Church. This enormous project was never done for money. It was done because people were truly on duty – in the highest sense of the word. Especially mentioned are: Chris Naveed Maqbool ✝ Max Hauri A huge acknowledgment also goes to all the translators who have done – and continue to do – an incredible job translating the materials into many languages. Invaluable thanks go to the countless individuals who collected materials and made them available to be scanned and digitized. I must also recognize all those in the Church of Scientology who supported, collected, typed, prepared, and translated materials – often for little or no pay. Last but not least, heartfelt thanks to Nikita and Slava, who initiated this project and brought this incredible homepage to life. Donations Every project needs resources to survive. If you appreciate our work, would you consider making a donation to help us keep the site running? https://stss.nl/support-us Much love, Max Hauri

  • PURPOSE OF SCIENTOLOGY

Introductio n: The basic purpose of Scientology is to give Man wisdom and freedom. Men are prisoners of themselves and only truth can set them free. If all men were sane then Society would be sane. Below you’ll find an article by Ron about what we are doing and what we want to achieve. An essential aspect of Scientology is always ARC – on all dynamics. This also means that we are connected to one another and should nurture that connection. Our goal is to be connected – not chained or bound together , but free and yet connected . That is our ideal. On Saturday, November 29th, starting at 6:00 p.m. , we’ll have our traditional fondue evening . Much love, Max Hauri Scientology's Mission or Purpose HCO Info Letter 24. November 1963 The basic mission of Scientology is to give Man wisdom and freedom. This is a civilizing mission, but it is also one of individual freedom. Men are prisoners of themselves and only truth can set them free. If all men were sane then Society would be sane. If you, the individual, knew the truth and were processed toward the truth, you would be free. Only lies degrade you. This is the lesson of Scientology. It is impossible to combat this mission and so we seldom confront the opposition or take it seriously. The opposition deals with days where we deal with eternity. A thousand years from now Scientology will be a bright name when anything now governed will have vanished from the role of nations. No organization which can achieve individual immortality ever worries much about momentary hostility. And individual immortality is not only in our grasp hut is now being achieved. But a civilizing mission perforce finds itself in a barbarism and like barbarians the wild and uninformed fight back. You can’t civilize someone without getting scratched now and then. Scientology will someday be acknowledged as one of the great efforts to civilize Earth, along with Buddhism and other such movements. Indeed, it will have a higher reputation than that. But in its beginnings – now – it knows hostility and baffles the slave masters. L. Ron Hubbard

  • The Physical Universe – Beyond The Point of No Return

The team during the Training Camp in Demré, Turkey Introduction: Discover how and why countless thetans remain entangled in the endless cycle of the physical universe. A highly interesting formula! In Scientology, we have a well-known formula: 8-8008 . It expresses that the infinity [8] of a thetan can only be truly experienced when the totality of the physical universe [8] is reduced to nothingness [0], and the non-existence of the thetan (the spirit) [0] becomes capable of attaining complete wholeness [8]. It forms a bridge from the realm of the material to the reality of the spiritual. In his article “The Physical Universe – Beyond the Point of No Return,” Ron explains why countless thetans remain entangled in the endless cycle of the physical universe. “ Your help is welcome to us. Our help is here for you.” Much love, Max Hauri   The principle of universal entanglement in the physical universe Excerpt from a lecture given by L. Ron Hubbard on the 26 February 1963   Let me tell you a law. The physical universe is built on a games condition and the optimum game in the physical universe is described by exactly these rules: minimum ease of entrance, followed by maximum involvement. That are the two steps of a game. That's the physical universe idea of a game. That isn't the ideas of a game in Scientology. I'm just telling you how the physical universe treats this thing. In other words, if you have something that's no trouble to enter, no trouble at all to enter, and you've got you've got with this "no difficulty of entrance," you’ve got an immediate involvement " which becomes more and more and more and more involved and there's just no way of getting out of it. And eventually you look around and it's just we're all locked in here and there's no doors. Now, these are just two steps. That's the only requisite to a successful "MEST universe game". That's totally successful. You just have something that takes no trouble at all to enter and gives maximum continuing involvement after it's been entered, which has no end product, and you've got it? That's a MEST characteristic of a game. Becomes more involved and more involved and more involved and more involved. And we go on and on and on.   L. Ron Hubbard

  • ADDITIVES

Introduction: In Scientology, we don’t give a person solutions. On the contrary, we let the person look at which solutions they once had, solutions that may now be completely outdated, and allow them to disappear them Ron says in HCOB 23 May 1971R, Recognition of rightness of the being: "Man is an added-to being and everything that has been added to him has decreased his ability to cope. When you add something to the Being he gets worse." In the lecture of January 7, 1964 Good indicatiors at lower levels: "This is all part and parcel of additives. We add something to the being and he gets worse. Everything that has been added to him has decreased his ability to cope. He becomes aberrative by additives." In Scientology, we handle unwanted things through As-Isness . As-Isness means that we look at something exactly as it is . By looking precisely at what it is and how it is, the aberrating factor (aberrating = irrational, deviating from rational thought or behavior) vanishes. In Scientology, we don’t give a person solutions. On the contrary, we let the person look at which solutions they once had, solutions that may now be completely outdated, and allow them to disappear them – to as-is them. In auditing, we let the person look at an engram or a secondary (loss) until they have cleared it – until they have as-ised it. We run a process until the PC (preclear) has a release. This even works in study: when a word is cleared, the misunderstanding dissolves. One could make a long list of what clears in Scientology. The person becomes more and more free and looks at things anew in the present. They no longer drag around old solutions and fixed ideas. They also look at the present as it is . That much about the Thetan, the spiritual being, which is you. One cannot apply the above one-to-one to the body, but here too it’s better to remove the cause than to resort to medications. Figuratively speaking, it is better to consume little or no alcohol than to take painkillers or whatever to cure a hangover. I think that with bodies it is often too much  of something that causes difficulties. Of course, one can also have too little  of something, but in our society of abundance it is often too much . Generally, one can certainly say that people have a strong tendency to handle difficulties and problems with more instead of with less . When someone has an ailment or difficulty, they get loads of advice. Listening and understanding are often missing. Our society is based on: “ Take. Take. Take. Buy. Buy. Buy. You must. You must. You must.” I’ve brought up this subject because some truths have recently surfaced. My experience has shown me that in connection with the subject of health—or rather, illness – an unjustified amount of fear is spread. With a few medications, but especially with antidepressants and vaccines, false promises are made, promises only the pharmaceutical industry and governments can afford to make. Did you know that the effectiveness of vaccines is only rarely compared with a placebo? In fact, it is almost never compared with the natural effectiveness of the immune system in the unvaccinated. Vaccines are most often compared only with other vaccines. In other words, this year’s flu shot is compared with the effectiveness of last year’s flu shot. But my logic tells me that one group should be vaccinated and a control group left unvaccinated – and then the two groups compared. Otherwise, it would be like giving one group of toddlers a new smartphone and another group last year’s model – both groups allowed to play with them endlessly – and then concluding that the new phone has no negative effect on the children. In 2008 there was a “measles epidemic” in Switzerland (2000 cases in 18 months). I clearly remember the radio reporting that both vaccinated and unvaccinated became ill equally. So much for lifelong protection. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or unexplained infant death are vaccine injuries. In connection with vaccines, the pharmaceutical industry lies through its teeth. Here’s an example: https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/11-week-old-anna-sims-died-routine-vaccines-family-wins-vicp-settlement/ Ron was very cynical about psychiatry. Here’s a report on modern psychiatry: https://brownstone.org/articles/the-only-medical-specialty-that-survives-on-lies/ Less is more. Training Zero. TR 0. Below, there is a wonderful bulletin, often used in handlings. Much love Max Hauri Recognition of rightness of the being Taken from the Tape “Good Indicators” from the 7. January 1964 by L. Ron Hubbard An auditor’s tendency is to look for wrongnesses. He is always trying to find something wrong with the pc. That’s the nature of Scientology; we assume that there is something wrong with somebody otherwise he wouldn’t be here and be dead in his head, and he would be capable of doing a great deal more than he is doing at the particular moment. An individual is basically and routinely good, capable of many actions and considerable power. In the state of a Free Thetan or Native State he is a far more powerful individual than when he’s been complicated up. It’s the idea of the additive data to the Thetan. Try to give somebody something he doesn’t want and you are going to overthrow his power of choice. His power of choice is the only thing that he had to begin with, which gave him power, capability and anything else and that power of choice has been consistently and continuously overthrown by giving him things he didn’t want and taking away from him things he didn’t want to get rid of back and forth. You get the individual pretty overwhelmed and he goes down in power. What happened to him actually is he solved something that didn’t need solving. There was something he couldn’t confront so he solved it and he fixed the solution. Additives Anytime you fix these solutions, for ever and ever you put the individual down grade. An individual becomes aberrated by additives. His experiences in this universe are usually calculated to degrade and depower him. Now all you have to do is pick up all of these criss-crosses and you return him to power. Man is an added-to being and everything that has been added to him has decreased his ability to cope. When you add something to the Being he gets worse. We are in the business of deleting wrongnesses from the individual. Even the Freudian Analyst realized that some additive had been added that should be deleted. So the idea of deleting something to bring about a recovery is not new with us. Wrongnesses Because we are in the business of deleting wrongnesses from the individual we seldom look at rightnesses and that’s what’s wrong with most auditors. They are so anxious to find the wrongness – and quite properly – and they never really look at the rightness. If they don’t look at the rightnesses that are present, then they aren’t appreciating the degrees of truth that are present that can be promoted into more truth. In other words they are starting at a level of no truth present all the time so of course they never make any forward progress. You must realize that there must be truth present and that this truth must be recognized and that this is hand-in-glove a part of auditing – the recognition of the fact that truth is present. If you only look for wrongnesses and only recognize wrongnesses then you will never be able to pull anything up a gradient because you won’t think you have any rightnesses to work with. It just all looks wrong to you. You have to be able to look at the wrongnesses in order to right them but we also have to be able to look at the rightnesses in order to increase them. We are only trying to find wrongnesses in order to increase rightnesses, and that’s very important. If you have no rightnesses present in a session you will never be able to make any progress of any kind. Progress is built on a gradient scale of rightnesses by which you delete wrongnesses and they drop and fall away. Therefore, Processing is an action by which wrongnesses can be deleted from the case to the degree that rightnesses are present in the session. You cannot take a case that doesn’t have any rightness present and delete a wrongness. So you have to realize that there are rightnesses present and then you increase those rightnesses. That makes it possible for you to pick up the wrongnesses and that’s what auditing consists of. Auditing is a contest of maintaining rightnesses so that we can delete wrongnesses. If you keep on deleting wrongnesses, all the while maintaining and increasing the rightnesses you eventually wind up with a very right being. You are trying to get a right being , therefore if you don’t continually encourage right beingness you never wind up with a right being. You must learn to observe an auditing session. You want your pc to wind up in a right state – in a more native, more capable, less overwhelmed, higher power of choice sort of state. You want him to wind up with more rightnesses. Therefore, if you audit so that you do not encourage and increase rightnesses then you won’t wind up with a right pc. The degree of rightness you have present must exceed the wrongness you are going to pick up. It’s a proportional action. If you’ve got as much wrongness in a session as you’ve got rightness you’re not riding on any cushion. It makes a very difficult job of auditing. If you want to pick up this little wrongness, you have to have rightnesses present which are big enough to engulf it. That makes easy auditing. If the rightnesses in the session are very minor and the problem is a tiny one, there isn’t enough rightness in the session to handle the problem and the pc cannot erase it. The pc’s ability to as-is or erase in a session is directly proportional to the number of good indicators present in the session. And his in ability to cope in a session rises proportionally to the number of bad indicators present in a session. Any process has its own series of bad indicators. And the bad indicator moves in when the good indicator moves out. So you have to have a primary knowledge of good indicators. Don’t look for bad indicators on and on and on; you’ll drive the pc around the bend and suppress the good indicators. What you want to do is know your good indicators for the level you are running so well that when one of them disappears out of the session, your ears go up and you instantly look for the bad indicator. Don’t look for the bad indicator until you see the vanishment of the good indicator. Otherwise you’re continually prowling around looking for wrongnesses in a session and you keep a pc very upset and you get no auditing done of any kind whatsoever. Remember this next time you see a pc start to bog and drag and flounder one way or the other. You’ve got to get the pc’s good indicators back in before you can get the pc to handle what you want him to handle. What influences the attitude of the pc is an ARC Break (that of course is influenced earlier by the auditor’s behavior), or the pc has an overt on the auditor or the pc has a missed withhold. An auditor who never gets in and finds out what is wrong in the session – the reasonable auditor – messes up pcs like mad. If all the good indicators are present the auditor knows he is doing a good job of auditing. L. Ron Hubbard Founder

  • DYNAMICS AND THE TONE SCALE

Introduction: There is no substitute for life. You live life until you really know how to live it. Scientology is not a substitute for life. Scientology gives you the right tools and frees you from tormenting burdens from the past.  Basically, you grow into the dynamics or into the emotional levels, that is, from the bottom up, or in the case of the dynamics, from the inside out. You expand your space into the dynamics. You expand your control, your knowledge, and your responsibility into the dynamics. You expand into life. Auditing and Scientology are not an elevator that catapults you to the highest levels. You go through it, or rather, you live life to get to the top. Just as you have to go through an engram several times to erase it, you have to live life to get to the top. There is no substitute for life. You live life until you really know how to live it. Scientology is not a substitute for life. Scientology gives you the right tools and frees you from tormenting burdens from the past.  There is a fantastic article about this: “ Dynamics and the Tone Scale .” You have to read and understand it. I wish you would read it.   Much love, Max Hauri DYNAMICS AND THE TONE SCALE (Note: This is a summarization of an L. Ron Hubbard taped lecture, compiled in written form by D. Folgere .) As an individual goes up the tone scale, he is more and more of the dynamics and he IS more in each dynamic. Figure I shows the parallel development of the regular tone scale and the expanding scale of being the dynamics. We see that an individual must go up the tone scale through all the lower ranges and even through 3.5, 4.0 and 8.0 before he succeeds in being even the first dynamic. He must be at 8.0 before he can be "himself." Whereas formerly 4.0 was held to be the end and goal of processing, now it is shown to be only the beginning of the beginning in terms of being . Four-point-0 is good survival, but it is very limited being . The idea of this scale is a very interesting one: That an Individual IS the dynamics additively as he ascends the tone scale. However, qualifications must be presented immediately, so that the student will not think that he must take this scale literally, number for number. In the last series of compilations, the Summary Course series, the idea was presented that the tone scale might be extended from 40.0 to 400.0 and from 400.0 to 4000.0 and that God was to be found at 4000.0 because that was as far as the scale went. This is a perfectly valid idea, and it is mentioned here to indicate that making the eighth dynamic, or the Being ness of all, equivalent to 40.0 on the tone scale is merely an arbitrary assignment of value. Also, the tone value for the being of each dynamic has been chosen arbitrarily, though not without some deliberation. Twenty-two-point-0 is assigned as the point of being the sixth dynamic, since 22.0 represents optimum randomity. In other words, motion is considered to be in its most harmonious relationship with theta at that point, and so that point is the obvious choice for the sixth dynamic, which is purely motion. It should be obvious to the student that there is no intention to imply by this scale that the individual does not begin to be the third dynamic until he reaches 12.0, and that he does not begin to be the fourth until he reaches 15.0. It is reasonable to assume that the individual begins to be all dynamics even at 0.5 on the tone scale. The idea which is meant to be implied by the scale is that the individual does not succeed in being effectively upon the various dynamics until he has reached various points on the scale, and it is thought that these points correspond to the tone scale roughly as shown in figure I. In order to be the fifth dynamic, the individual must already have made a success of being the fourth. In order to be the fourth, he must already have made a success of being the third, and so on. Let us examine what is meant by being the dynamics. Let us suppose that an individual decides to take part in the MEST universe and that he is unfortunately so low on the tone scale, through having met with certain unnamed and unthinkable experiences, that he is able to be only a small portion of the back of his own neck. He has nominal control of an entire individual human organism, but he feels out of touch and out of control with all of it but a small portion of the back of its neck. We might expect to find such an individual near apathy on the tone scale. A course of processing brings the self-determinism of this person up to a point where he is thoroughly capable of controlling his body and using it, where he feels completely in affinity, communication, and agreement with it, where it does nothing which he does not want it to do and does everything which he does want it to do. We might be justified in saying then that this individual was being himself, as an organism. We might say that he was successfully being the first dynamic. We might also say, however, that he had not yet succeeded in being any other dynamic but the first. How would he go about being another dynamic? The next dynamic in order is the second dynamic. He will next succeed in being the second dynamic. Of course, if this individual has succeeded in being the first dynamic, he will be surviving very well along the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh dynamics. But surviving is not the activity which we are considering now. We are considering being . How is an individual able to be the second dynamic? We are quite used to the idea that a person is his individual organism. In fact, we are too used to it. In our present culture, the statement "A person is his individual organism" means "A person equals his individual organism. In other words, he is just that organism, and he is no more than that organism. In Scientology, we have seen the fallacy of this idea. In Scientology, the statement "A person is his organism, means that some individual has achieved complete being within his organism, so that he is cause within it. When we recognize the fact that being the organism does not mean being equal to the organism, we can see more easily how an individual might be the other dynamics as well as the first. Being the organism means being cause within the organism. being the other dynamics means being cause within the other dynamics. Of course, it also means knowing , trusting , winning , being free , and all the other parts of being which are enumerated along the top of the tone scale. Being the second dynamic means knowing, trusting, winning, being free, and all the rest, along the second dynamic. There is no particular significance to the boundary which we artificially place around being by recognizing the physical body as a thing of importance. But this boundary can be very aberrative. naturally, if a person believes that he is equal to his body, he need only observe the failings of the body to which he is equal to see that he is rather a poor thing. If he is equal to his body, then there is very little hope for him. The body is a certain size, a certain weight, a certain texture. It has a little strength. It has a little beauty or a little ugliness, or both. It knows pleasure and pain, stimulus and response. It is MEST, therefore he also must be MEST. If, on the other hand, a man knows that he is not equal to his body, but is cause within his body, then he may aspire to be better cause and to be cause on a wider scale than just his body. He may desire to move out into the other dynamics, to be the other dynamics. When he has become his organism, so that he is his organism, he then goes on to the second dynamic. In its first stages, the second dynamic is concerned with a close physical and non-physical relationship with an individual of the opposite sex. The outward form and appearance of this relationship, as it is practised in the present culture, is familiar to all of us. When it is new it is sometimes called "love." When it is a little older it is called "marriage." When it is finished it is sometimes called "widowhood" and sometimes "divorce." It is praised by some and condemned by others. The majority of both sides profess not to understand its mysteries. What is the secret of love? What is the way to a happy marriage? These are questions which have been asked and answered many times. From Ovid to Mr. Anthony, answers have boiled up in the turbulent cauldrons of human culture. Some of the answers have been wise, many stupid. Most of them have concerned themselves with trifling details, whether of bedroom or (in the United States) of breakfast table. Few of them have shown the way to being happy in love and in marriage, since few of them have said anything which would lead to being . If we were to try to enunciate the simplest possible rule for happiness in love and in marriage, we might say something like this: The successful sex relationship depends upon man and woman reaching a high degree of agreement on immediate and long-term goals and maintaining that agreement without establishing a cause and effect relationship. Both individuals must be cause within the sex relationship, or it will degenerate into a mere master-slave relationship or a domination-nullification relationship. This does not mean that there should be no difference between a man and a woman, or that they should squabble over how to boil an egg or chop down a tree. It means that if an agreement is reached as to the division of labor within the relationship, then each individual should be cause directly in his own division and should be cause , indirectly through the other individual, in the other's division. And how can one individual be the cause of another's actions without making that other individual into an effect? Can this be done? The way to become cause of another's actions is to assume responsibility for them without controlling the other's execution of them. If all married persons would begin to assume responsibility for each other's actions and would treat those actions as their own, most of the trouble in marriage would be eliminated. Of course, this would call for a large degree of agreement on what goals were desirable and what methods should be used to reach those goals. But this large degree of agreement is not difficult to reach. Any two intelligent and relatively unaberrated people can reach such an agreement (or fail conclusively to reach it) before marriage. The difficult part, in this society which teaches that in the biblical phrase which urges each of us to be his brother's "keeper" the word "keeper" means "animal trainer" – the difficult part is maintaining that agreement without establishing a cause -and- effect relationship instead of a cause relationship. What are the advantages of a cause relationship? The simplest and most inclusive expression of these advantages is that since a human being is cause , a cause relationship will allow him to be a human being, whereas a cause -and- effect relationship will make him an effect and so prevent him from being a human being. This is true even of the individual who begins the cause -and- effect relationship in the cause role. The process of making an effect out of another human being is a very dangerous one. It leads to making an effect out of the perpetrator also. After a while, a cause -and- effect relationship degenerates into a simple effect relationship, with both individuals in apathy. This is normally considered "a good adjustment," and the victims are said to have learned to be tolerant of each other and to live with each other's faults. Society, in 1952, frowns on a cause -and- effect relationship, although in the Victorian days it was held quite proper that the man should be cause and the woman effect . Society in 1952 much prefers an effect relationship, and most marital counseling is aimed toward such a relationship. The clients are urged to make allowances for each other. They are taught tricks of controlling their tempers, and they are advised to trade tolerations. If Mary burns the toast, John is supposed to remember that this gives him the right to get mud on the floor. Tit for tat. A good bargain. The clients are urged to accept the fact that all people have faults and that no one is perfect and no one can be perfect. Their hope for a satisfactory relationship is removed, and an iron cage of well-adjusted apathy is substituted. They are told that this is the best that can be expected. It is not. Instead of going down the tone scale from the Victorian cause -and- effect relationship to the modern effect relationship, it is possible to go up the tone scale to a cause relationship, in which both partners feel responsible for each other's acts and in which each partner feels that the other is acting for him. If Mary burns the toast, John accepts responsibility for this action. This does not mean that he assumes all the responsibility and leaves none for Mary. It means that he assumes all the responsibility and that Mary assumes all the responsibility, too. They both assume all the responsibility. Under such an arrangement, no one can be blamed. All their attention goes into doing better with the toast, and none of it is wasted in blame. It is perfectly obvious to John that Mary did not want to burn the toast. Even if she is suffering from an aberrative compulsion to burn the toast, John knows that she does not want to burn it except as she acts under this compulsion. He knows also that the only way to release her from the compulsion is to bring her up the tone scale, and he knows that he cannot bring her up the tone scale by blaming her and making her an effect , but only by accepting her effort as his own, by making her cause . It may seem odd that Mary can be cause if John accepts her effort as his own, but that does not mean that he takes her effort away from her – it means that he allows his being to flow into that effort. He validates her effort by letting it be a part of him. He does not invalidate it as itself by refusing responsibility for it. He does not invalidate it as her effort by interfering with her performance of it. He validates the effort by being responsible for it, and he validates Mary by letting her be the one to control the effort. He does not try to control her efforts, and she does not try to control his, but each of them assumes responsibility for the efforts of the other. We may be able to see more clearly how this works if we hypothetize an outside individual who is temporarily hostile to John and Mary. Mary runs the family automobile into the neighbor's gate. The neighbor rushes over in a huff and encounters John in the front yard. The neighbor says, "You just ruined my gate!" John goes with the neighbor to look at the gate and at the car. Sure enough, there is blue paint on the gate and white paint on the car. The evidence is conclusive. John agrees with the neighbor that the gate has been damaged by John's car and he asks the neighbor to have it repaired and send him the bill. The neighbor says that the damage is not very great and so he will repair it himself. John lends him the tools and helps him to repair the gate. John insists on buying a can of white paint, and the neighbor says he will enjoy painting the gate on Sunday. He apologizes for being so excited at first. They shake hands. John goes into the house, and Mary says, "Dear, I hit the Jones's gate with the car." John says, "Yes, I know. We've already repaired it." Mary says, "I'm sorry. I was thinking about the bathroom curtains." John says, "That's all right. What about the bathroom curtains?" Mary says, "I want to dye them blue." John says, "That's a good idea." If nobody is to blame for the damage to the gate, a constructive subject like dyeing the curtains will immediately attract John's and Mary's attention, since it represents future action. Now, the reader may say, "But what if Mary runs into the neighbor's gate every week – just like in the funny papers?" The answer is easy: It is not necessary to live as though one were living in the funny papers. Two possibilities arise. Either Mary has some aberration which makes good driving impossible for her, or she has not. The chances of the first are very slight. If she can walk, she should be able to drive the car – provided she can drive the car as cause and not as effect . If Mary's vision is such that she cannot see the neighbor's gate, then an agreement must be reached whereby she does not drive the car. But if she merely runs into the gate "through carelessness," it is ten-to-one that someone is interfering with her self-determinism about driving the car. John's most constructive course is to let her go on driving the car and running into the gate and to assume responsibility for her actions. Of course, he may have to pay out two or three hundred dollars for new fenders and new gates, but that is a very small price to pay for bringing his wife up the tone scale to the point at which she can operate the machine rationally. The moment Mary realizes that she is cause when driving the car and that no one is interfering with her, she will not hit the gate. It must be admitted that the hidden memory of past interference with her driving may act in present time to aberrate Mary's driving even though John keeps his hands off and is truly responsible for her actions. In this case, it may be decided that Mary should not drive, or it may be decided to try, by auditing or simple discussion, to clear up the aberration stemming from past interference. no matter what is decided, however, Mary is not to blame for hitting the gate. Her not driving is not a punishment, it is only a method of preserving the gate. The foregoing discussion of John and Mary is meant to illustrate what it will be possible for John to accomplish in his marital relationship in the way of construction if he is being the second dynamic and is not just managing a bare survival along the second dynamic. If he is the second dynamic, then he is Mary. Her efforts are his efforts. Her responsibility is his responsibility. Her gain is his gain. This does not mean, in the slightest particular, that John is not himself. He is not less himself because he IS Nary. He does not give up the first dynamic in order to take on the second, he adds the second dynamic to the first. Having become cause within his own organism, he now extends his causation to another organism, but since this other organism already contains a first-dynamic cause , he becomes the second-dynamic cause of this organism. He assumes the efforts of this organism as his own efforts without assuming control of those efforts – or, at least, without in any way interfering with Mary's control of those efforts. This is what is meant by the many forms of the statement that a man or a woman alone are but half a person, that a complete person is made up of a man and a woman. We think that this statement does not go far enough, since a complete person is made up, not only of the first and second dynamics, but also of the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth dynamics – but the first and second are a good and indispensable start to becoming a complete person. Most people have not yet begun to reach the first. A complete person is being at least seven dynamics. Such a person would be a god compared to normal human beings, but there seems to be no reason why there should not be such a person. There may be a lot of work involved in becoming such a person, but there was a lot of work involved in building the pyramids, too, and there they are. Figure II shows the expanding being in terms of an ever-wider area of space. This figure is included to correct the possible impression that various dynamics lie exclusively at certain points on the tone scale. We see here that in order to reach the borderline of the second dynamic, we first must pass the borderline of the first. However, the second does not begin at "I," it begins at "0." All the dynamics begin at "0." The first begins at "0." The second begins at "0." And so do the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh. The boundary lines express rather the accomplishment of being those dynamics. They show that one has to accomplish a little to be the first dynamic, more to be the second, more to be the third and so on. But we might infer from the figure that when one had reached the second, one would have succeeded half way in being the fourth. This inference, while uncertain as to proportion, is correct in principle. The achievement of being the first and second dynamics is part of the achievement of being the fourth dynamic. This is the accumulation of Being ness, which was mentioned in the last section. We shall see in the next section what happens when the accumulation of Being ness is disregarded in the journey outward to the edge of the circle. If we turn this circle of dynamics so that we view it more from the edge, we have (in figure III) a representation of what happens at the top and at the bottom of the tone scale and of the relationship between zero and infinity on the tone scale. The solid line shows the progress of the scale through the concentric circles which mark the boundaries of the various dynamics. The dotted line shows an arbitrary passage through the "space" outside the seven dynamics. This dotted line enters the dynamic circle either at zero or at infinity, either at the edge of the circle or at the center of the circle. Therefore, an individual who is going to depart from the material universe may do so at the edge of the circle or at the center, but according to the diagram he will be in the same "place" no matter which exit he uses. Just what factors determine the entry of the individual into the circle at either one of these two points cannot be indicated in this diagram, since they are unknown to the writer. Looking again at figure II, we see that the fourth dynamic is labeled "race." This dynamic used to be labeled "mankind." The word "race" has been substituted because it may very well be that the development which we shall experience in the immediate future will take us beyond the boundaries of that area of life which we now label "mankind." We have been in the past and we may be in the future creatures quite different from those we now think of as "mankind." A future is conceivable in which all those beings who wish to remain as men upon this planet may call themselves the group of mankind. This group may be all the third dynamic there is, the social order having been so creatively and harmoniously worked out as to make subordinate groups unnecessary and unwanted. This would be the brotherhood of mankind which has been set forth in the literature of religion. The race dynamic might then include not only mankind but also those beings who did not wish to be confined to a planetary or an earthly or a physical existence, beings who might roam the spaces and the non-spaces at will, in search of adventures which we can hardly name, much less envision. • TONE SCALE

Introduction:  Discover the Tone Scale, the world of emotions. It is the most important scale in Scientology. You can find the entire scale below. Here is an important detail about it: The Tone scale Excerpt from the lecture SHSBC 298 given on May 29, 1963, by L. Ron Hubbard This you should know about the Tone Scale: That a person has no personal reality, but may have an intellectual reality, on those tones above his position. He has reality only on those tones below his position. His tone is known as chronic tone. Now, there can be chronic tone as a body plus thetan, or there can be chronic tone as a thetan. And chronic tone of body plus thetan can be apparently at enthusiasm, whereas tone of thetan is at unconsciousness and is off the Tone Scale. Do you get these data? This is not brand-new data, but it’s quite interesting because I’m punching it up to you hard. This is not just nonsense data that it’s nice to know; this is the breath of life when it comes to programming. Any level above the chronic tone is susceptible of being dramatized. Dramatization is a thetan or thetan plus body performing evolutions not under the thetan or thetan plus body’s control. Nonvolitional action. Older mental studies so concentrated on nonvolitional actions they thought there was nothing else but nonvolitional actions. So you just have to omit those particular studies because there are volitional actions and they lie below the chronic tone of the individual on the Tone Scale. Now, you’ve got the volitional actions, then, of body plus thetan – see, a chronic tone of body plus thetan. And then you’ve got another position which is the chronic tone of the thetan which is lower than that of the body plus thetan. So that tells you very often that you have to process the body plus thetan like mad to finally bring the thetan off the launching pad. And they dramatize... the body plus thetan is susceptible of dramatizing any level above the chronic tone, but is most susceptible to the half-tone above. That goes in harmonics as you go on up. L. Ron Hubbard If you are in Switzerland here is an excellent boost on the tone scale: See the date here .

  • PURPOSE OF LIFE

Introduction: Life in itself, has no inherent purpose. But we can give life a purpose. We can create a game, enjoy it, learn from it, and grow more capable. If we fail to do this, we will end up like the poor mice in “Experiment Universe 25”. We can give a purpose to life The experiments with mice and rats ( Experiment Universe 25 ) made me reflect. We live in a time when vast amounts of information rain down on us – if we allow it. Never before has the abundance and the possibility of accessing information been greater than it is today. Having all information and all knowledge constantly and at any time available can indeed be compared to the constant and unlimited access to food in the mouse experiment Universe 25 . And although all information and knowledge are always at our disposal, we still have huge gaps – and worse: we often feed our minds with sensations rather than with real knowledge. It can truly be compared to eating: just because all kinds of food are always available doesn’t mean that we actually eat the right things. Perhaps it takes the seclusion of a monastery to truly learn wisdom. There is certainly some truth to that. Life, in itself, has no inherent purpose. But we can give life a purpose. We can create a game, enjoy it, learn from it, and grow more capable. Educating ourselves and giving life a purpose is our opportunity – and it must go hand in hand with the immeasurable wealth we are capable of creating. If we fail to do this, we will end up like the poor mice. For quite some time now, alarm bells have been flashing wildly all around us. In certain circles, it has almost become a competition to break every possible taboo. In many countries, birth rates are shockingly low – including Switzerland. On top of that, there are monstrous wars and mafia-like state structures that would make even psychopaths pale. Traditional morality and ethics are being forgotten, and people try to replace or improve them with a flood of laws. But people can only be guided to a limited extent by laws. True greatness and ethics come from within ; they arise through understanding. If we do not achieve this, humanity will never build a truly advanced civilization on Earth. To close the circle: sometimes we must tear ourselves away from everything we could have, and from everything we think we must do, and spend a certain amount of time in seclusion – working on ourselves in order to fill these “great gaps,” as described above. A few days of intensive training, or even several weeks, can bring great benefits. We are neither mice nor slaves. That is why it is important to repeatedly create time and space for our own well-being – and not a Universe 25 . A vast potential lies dormant within us, if only we uncover and nurture it. Ron’s Org offers basic training and auditing to better understand oneself and others. We provide training to live the game called life in higher quality – and ultimately also the ability to create great games. Reach out to me or your local Ron’s Org to find out what the best next step for you is. Much love Max Hauri Purpose of Life – A Triangle Auditing Techniques: Games Conditions. Excerpt from the Lecture 1 February 1957 given by L. Ron Hubbard You can assign purpose to life, and if you don’t, nobody will. A game is composed of freedom, barriers, and purposes. And we’ve got one of these trick triangles, like the ARC triangle. You increase any corner of it, you increase the other two corners; increase two and you certainly increase the third. That’s a highly selective triangle, and it works! Oddly enough, in games there is a singular triangle: it’s freedom, barriers, and purposes. You increase somebody’s freedom, you increase his barriers and purposes. You increase his barriers, you increase his freedom and purposes. You increase his purposes, and you increase his freedom and barriers. And that’s the wildest-looking thing you ever studied. And I’m going to have to ask you to look that over and find enough examples to satisfy yourself that interrelationship does exist, because it looks absolutely mad that if we put a nine-o’clock curfew on the streets of this city, that people would have more freedom. It's the wildest thing you ever saw. It’s only when somebody unbalances this triangle violently that we have trouble, exclamation point! Real trouble. An individual has no purpose. There he goes! He won’t have freedom or barriers. No purpose: no freedom, no barriers. There isn’t any purpose to life at all. You can assign purpose to life, and if you don’t, nobody will. Purpose has to be assigned to life because it is purposeless. When you can swallow that bitter pill, you can live. But to swallow it requires that you conceive a static. Thetan native state: no purpose. But it is a solvable thing. It’s solvable. Just invent a problem of comparable magnitude to anything; invent some games. Raise the whole trio here — raise those three corners at once: freedom, barriers, and purposes. L. Ron Hubbard

  • Necessity of games – Universe 25 experiment

Introduction: A welfare state requiring no contribution will at length be paid in revolution. A hat "worn" without contributing to the team… will cause an upset and discomfort in oneself, a harmful reaction from others, and reactions within the remainder of the team. It is best to first understand what Universe 25 Experiment was about and read the summary. Link  ( https://ngzh.ch/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/168_4_15-17.pdf ) "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times." – Attributed to G. Michael Hopf Necessity of Games [Text marked in dark blue are direct quotes from Ron.] Ron defines a game as consisting of freedoms, barriers, and goals . Ron also says that Serenity of Beingness  is not the goal of Scientology. So it is not the aim to be at 40.0 on the Tone Scale. He says in the Philadelphia Doctorate Course  that Games , 22.0, are the ideal level. On that course he also says that if you want to make someone come alive, you must take MEST (matter, energy, space, and time) away from them. Ron equates communism – a form of government in which the state ensures that everyone always has everything, where theoretically there is never any scarcity – to Covert Hostility , 1.1. The project of Universal Basic Income  could fall into this category. Ron also writes that production is the basis of morale . No product, no morale. Our Bridge brings preclears and OTs toward Games, Game Masters, and New Games . Men have a necessity of games. Here is another quote: " Short cutting tech delivery is fatal." Games – e.g., Scientology, auditing, a Ron's Org – when truly played, with many products and especially with many terminals involved, lead to high morale. Happines: Happiness, you could say, is the overcoming of not unknowable obstacles toward a known goal. Ron also writes: Always process toward a games condition. Never process toward a no-game-condition. Always process games conditions. Never process no-game conditions. This is more complicated than you think. As a stark contrast, I want to recommend reading about the experiment Universe 25 by John B. Calhoun. Look it up . It is in any case worthwhile to read this short study or listen to it on YouTube. These "happy mice" had absolutely no game. The really shocking thing is that the mice apparently degenerated mentally to such an extent that this state of mind led them to extinction. What astonishes me is that the mice could not pull themselves out of this downward spiral. John B. Calhoun had placed them into an absolute "no-game condition." The much longed-for paradise that we humans keep praying for can be a deadly trap. Whether one draws conclusions for humanity from this experiment is up to each person. But one thing is certain: the technological revolution, and now artificial intelligence, are maneuvering an ever-larger part of our society into a no-game condition. A thetan will always seek a game. Any game is better than no game. The concern is that the games will be shaped according to the amount of reactive mind and the lack of Scientology training. The more AI we will have, the more important it is to have a game like Scientology. In Scientology, it is not about rushing up the Bridge as fast as possible – it is much more important to have a good game. In the words of John Lennon: "All we are saying is give Scientology a chance." Much love, Max Hauri Summary of Calhoun’s Mice “Universe 25 Experiment” PDF available John B. Calhoun’s famous “Universe 25 Experiment” with mice is one of the best-known studies on how population density affects social behavior. He wanted to see what happens when a community has unlimited resources but becomes crowded over time. For the experiment, Calhoun built a large enclosure designed to be a “mouse utopia.” The habitat could theoretically hold about 3,000 mice. Inside it, he made sure there was everything the animals could need: unlimited food and water, protection from predators, a stable climate, and over 250 nesting areas. In other words, there were no natural limits that should have stopped the population from growing. At the beginning, only a few pairs of healthy mice were placed in the enclosure. The first phase went exactly as expected: the population grew rapidly, doubling every couple of months. The mice spread out, built nests, and raised their young in relative peace. For a while, it looked like the utopia was working. But as numbers increased, the mice were forced into closer and closer contact with each other. Even though the enclosure was not yet physically full, the constant interactions created psychological stress. The maximum population was reached at around 2,200 mice, far below the 3,000 the enclosure could have supported. After this point, reproduction slowed down sharply, and disturbing changes in behavior began to appear. Aggression became common. Some dominant males started attacking weaker mice, sometimes without reason. At the same time, many males gave up competing altogether. These withdrawn mice spent their days eating, sleeping, and cleaning themselves, but they no longer fought for territory or tried to mate. Calhoun called them “the beautiful ones” because their fur remained smooth and perfect, but they had no social or reproductive role. Females were also affected. Overcrowding and stress made many of them unable to care for their young. Some abandoned their litters, while others became aggressive toward their own offspring. Infant mortality increased dramatically, and fewer and fewer babies survived. Even though food, water, and space were still available, the colony began to collapse socially. Violence, isolation, and maternal failure replaced normal patterns of community life. Eventually, the mice stopped reproducing altogether. After reaching the peak of 2,200, the population entered a steady decline until the colony completely died out. Calhoun called this process the “behavioral sink” – the breakdown of normal behavior in conditions of extreme social density. He believed that the results carried lessons for humans, especially in crowded urban environments. Just as the mice showed stress, aggression, and social withdrawal, people in overcrowded cities might face similar risks if social structures break down. Although later researchers have debated how directly the experiment applies to humans, it remains a powerful example. It shows that material abundance alone is not enough for a healthy society. Without functioning social relationships and enough psychological space, even a “perfect” world can collapse. Service Policy Letter 27. May 1971 by L. Ron Hubbard The essential ingredient of any post is Service . A hat essentially is contributive . It contributes to the general production of the team . Contributism is a philosophy in itself. You find it in The Factors. You also find it would apply in economics. One contributes . One is contributed to . By others contributing to others who then contribute back, one is also benefited. When contribution is cut or not allowed, denied or withheld, one gets the phenomenon of ARC Break in the form of cut C – Communication. (Where A is Affinity and R is Reality.) ARC Breaks precede harmful intentional acts. Thus you can expect that when contribution is not balanced to some degree, trouble and upset occurs. From such breakdowns we get the violence of strikes, political philosophies and even revolution. A welfare state requiring no contribution will at length be paid in revolution. A hat "worn" without contributing to the team or without contributing one's real efforts will cause (a) an upset and discomfort in oneself (b) a harmful reaction from others and (c) reactions within the remainder of the team. Morale is dependent upon production . Production is accomplished by numerous contributions of thought or effort. Any existing organization or civilization is the sum total of its past and current contributors in terms of thought and effort. Some contribute much, some little. Rewards are not necessarily proportional to contribution and do not necessarily establish the degree of contribution. Actually a "reward" is what one desires, not what is given. Approval and validation are often far more valuable than material rewards and are usually worked for far harder than mere pay. Even being part of an important team is a return contribution. Thus "customer approval" of the team is part of the rewards one achieves. The subject of what one receives in return for contributing is as variable as the desires of Man. Anyone who has a hat is expected to contribute the services outlined by the hat. Other teammates and customers or clientele or "the public" expect a staff member to contribute his specialized services to those who seek them. Thus Service is a keynote of a hat. Many years ago when I first looked this over, I had a high position of command. After a great deal of sorting out, I finally concluded that the only privilege it conferred on me was the right to serve . After that I could handle the post. And was happy with it. Certain it is that degradation is inevitable when the Right to Serve is interrupted or denied. It is worth thinking about in relation to happiness. L. Ron Hubbard Founder

  • A historical fact

Introduction: When people understand Scientology and it is applied correctly, they usually want more of it because it is the truth, and the truth applies in all fields. A Historical Fact Scientology stands for itself. Once you understand what it is about, you can't put it down. Even those who have turned away from Scientology continue to apply the principles they have learned. You can't help it because it is the truth. When people understand Scientology and it is applied correctly, they usually want more of it. You don't have to “sell” Scientology. You just have to offer it. When you have to sell Scientology, that is the beginning of the end. Then something went wrong. I never had to do that, and still refuse to sell Scientology today. If someone doesn't want it, he or she is free to leave – without me feeling the slightest bit of disapproval. If someone wants it – great! We will find a solution, even if the person is not rolling in money. Early in my Scientology career, I developed an aversion to the sales techniques outlined in the book "Big League Sales Closing Techniques" . It is a book written by Les Dane, a successful salesman. I would be doing Les Dane  an injustice by denigrating his book – it is indeed a good work for salespeople. However, there are no salespeople in Scientology or on the Org-Board. That was never Ron's intention or plan. Apparently, it began when a registrar found the aforementioned book Big League Sales (BLS) in mid-1972, read it, and used it to drive sales skyrocketing. The statistics shot up. Management viewed this as a successful campaign and promoted it accordingly – after all, good statistics are always good… However, the scale of motivation is as follows: • Duty – highest • Personal conviction • Personal gain • Money – lowest The BLS is intended to generate revenue. However, money is not a goal in Scientology. It was introduced in 1972 and later “perfected.” Although this led to significantly higher sales, it also resulted in many refunds and repayments. And according to the guidelines, each repayment led to the exclusion of the person concerned. Back then, in 1980, I was Qual Sec, and all these refunds and repayments cases also ran through my lines. They were Scientologists who wanted to do Scientology, but it was sold to them far beyond their budget – massively so. In order to get back on track financially, they had no choice but to reclaim the money. It gave me butterflies in my stomach every time, because I knew we had lost another friend forever. It was hard on me. I took it personally to lose a friend this way. To this day, it makes me sad when I think about what the “most ethical group in the world” did. That was one of many reasons why I turned my back from the Church of Scientology in 1983. I often say and write about how a tragic change crept in from mid-1972 onwards. Here are some historical facts – you can judge for yourself: On all the checksheets we have had and continue to have over the years, we study exclusively materials by L. Ron Hubbard. This may come as a surprise, but it is a fact. On December 1, 1972, the BLS was implemented in one fell swoop, together with HCOB 12.11.72 and HCO PL 2.11.72. At least twelve HCO Policy Letters were published. See here: Click on this link to see all the references (not translated and you are not expected to study them). Not a single one of these references was written by L. Ron Hubbard. They were not even approved by him. Normally, publication by the administration took one to three weeks. So they probably reached the staff in mid-December 1972. Probably the most important fact: On December 4, 1972, Ron disappeared for about ten months – and no one knew where he was. ( Link to source , available only in English.) I can't help it: it reminds me very much of an MI6 or CIA operation. Inconspicuous individuals are discreetly infiltrated, small changes are made, and suddenly a mob is demonstrating against something – without any apparent connection. Then a revolution or coup d'État follows, and a few years later the country plunges into chaos. War ensues – and no one knows why. It must be emphasized: this was only one of many actions that ultimately led to the implosion of the church. Today, we have the tech and admin, back the way Ron wrote it, and the way he wanted it. It is available to all of us, and we are doing everything we can to make it accessible to everyone. More on this will follow – we are in the process of releasing a larger project soon. We are doing our best to guide our students through the correct tech – and also to give them the opportunity to understand what went wrong and what is wrong tech. I think “The Aims of Scientology,” written by Ron in 1965, are more relevant today than ever. Much love, Max Hauri The Aims of Scientology  1965  –  Fundamentals of Thought Scientology wants to achieve the following: A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where Man is free to rise to greater heights, are the aims of Scientology. First announced to an enturbulated world in 1950, these aims are well within the grasp of our technology. Non-political in nature, Scientology welcomes any individual of any creed, race or nation. We seek no revolution. We seek only evolution to higher states of being for the individual and for Society. We are achieving our aims. After endless millennia of ignorance about himself, his mind and the Universe, a breakthrough has been made. Other efforts Man has made have been surpassed. The combined truths of Fifty Thousand years of thinking men, distilled and amplified by new discoveries about Man, have made for this success. We welcome you to Scientology. We only expect of you your help in achieving our aims and helping others. We expect you to be helped. Scientology is the most vital movement on Earth today. In a turbulent world the job is not easy. But then, if it were, we wouldn’t have to be doing it. We respect Man and believe he is worthy of help. We respect you and believe you too can help. Scientology does not owe its help. We have done nothing to cause us to propitiate. Had we done so we would not now be bright enough to do what we are doing. Man suspects all offers of help. He has often been betrayed, his confidence shattered. Too frequently he has given his trust and been betrayed. We may err, for we build a world with broken straws. But we will never betray your faith in us so long as you are one of us. The sun never sets on Scientology. And may a new day dawn for you, for those you love and for Man. Our aims are simple if great. And we will succeed, and are succeeding at each new revolution of the Earth. Your help is acceptable to us. Our help is yours. L. Ron Hubbard

  • Take Ten Minutes of Nothing

Introduction: Being there and perceiving truly is the beginning of life. This is also "take time of Nothing". It is the very foundation of living. That’s where it all starts. Another successful week of Hard TRs has come to an end. The house was full, and people were lined up on chairs, successfully doing TR 0. Being there and perceiving truly is the beginning of life. It is the very foundation of living. That’s where it all starts. There is great demand for TR 0, which is why we’re offering another Hard TR week this November. Next Hard TRs Camp: From Saturday, 22. November to Saturday, 29. November 2025. Much love, Max Hauri Take Ten Minutes of Nothing Extract from PAB 7  – around mid-August 1953, L. Ron Hubbard This technique means, oh so literally what it says. It isn’t ten minutes of "relaxation" or "relief" or "rest." It isn’t ten minutes of you, a body. It isn’t ten minutes of somatics. It means ten minutes of no body, no engrams, no walls, no MEST Universe, no sound, no thought, really nothing. All one’s life he is trying to get, to work, to be, to perceive Something . Now for Ten Minutes let us have utterly Nothing . The gettingness of something makes a one-way flow. Also the dwindling spiral. Also, the one thing the analytical mind cannot be, it thinks, yet all it is is nothing, is in MEST terms: Nothing. Mind you, fear of Nothing is enough to make one’s stomach curl for Nothing is death itself. This is unlimited in running time. It always improves a case in the long run if not instantly, as it often does. The preclear discovers sooner or later he can  be nothing, that he doesn’t have to strive to be. What a relief! Lao-tse was so right about striving. The MEST Universe itself is mainly nothing even in the science of physics. In sound, concentrate on the silences between the beats, not the beats, for instance. You can use Nothing  in Matched Terminal Brackets*, you can have Nothing of particular somethings such as dead kinfolk. But the basic technique and the one used here is simply "Ten Minutes of Nothing." * Matched Terminals Brackets: The way one does matched terminals is to have the preclear facing the preclear or his father facing his father; in other words, two of each of anything, one facing the other. These two things will discharge one into the other. Thus running off the difficulty. L. Ron Hubbard
