Although distinct, Dianetics and Scientology stem from the discoveries of L. Ron Hubbard. Dianetics focuses specifically on the impact of the mind on the body and life. Scientology, on the other hand, addresses the Thetan: the being, the person, YOU.

Dianetics: The mind and the body
With Dianetics, you can identify and eliminate the source of psychosomatic pain, unwanted emotions, and fears. It leads to the state of Clear.
While a thetan (the being, you) can create illness, it is the body that is ill. That is why Dianetics is used to eliminate and erase illnesses, unwanted sensations, negative emotions, pain, etc.
Dianetics came into being before Scientology. It eliminates physical illnesses and difficulties a thetan has with his body.
Dianetics was the subject of extensive research and study from 1932 to 1952, then in 1962/63 and 1969.
Man’s usual recurrent problem is his body. So if one gave him gold ornaments he’d try to use them to cure his aches and pains.
Dianetics, as it now exists, is so simple, so elementary, and applicable to bodies on such a large scale that one really has to try hard to complicate it or make it unusable.
Scientology: The spirit (Thetan) and life
When a thetan has body discomfort or upset solved, he could then go on with what he really wanted which were the improvements to be found in Scientology.

Scientology is used to increase the spiritual freedom, intelligence, and potential abilities of a spiritual being.
