Just as you do not want people to control you, so you should want knowledge of yourself and others. Just as you fight away from knowingness concerning self, so you will be controlled. What is needed to have a free society? A simple and conclusive science of mind is a vital necessity in any society which desires to become free and remain free. The only elements in a society which would combat, or contest, or dispute an effort to attain such a science would be those interests which desired, by ignorance, to maintain their control of a slavery. Each and every impulse of freedom is an impulse towards sanity, towards health, towards happiness. Every impulse towards slavery is an impulse in the direction of misery, disease and death. One can say alike of the arthritic and the neurotic that the basic cause of disturbance, physical or mental, germinated in efforts to reduce the freedom of the individual, the group, or Mankind. The one impulse in Man which cannot be erased Dianetics is an effort towards the attainment by Man of a level of freedom where decency and happiness can prevail, and where knowledge of the mind itself would prevent the unscrupulous use of the mechanisms of slavery. Dianetics can be contested, it can be vilified, its founder and practitioners can be publicly pilloried, but Dianetics cannot be ignored. It could neither be drowned in praise, nor burned in some purge to its total eradication, for it is a wonderfully observable fact that the one impulse in Man which cannot be erased is his impulse towards freedom, his impulse towards sanity, towards higher levels of attainment in all of his endeavors. This is Man’s one saving grace, and because Dianetics is such an impulse, and because its basic purpose, from the moment of its conception, have been dedicated unswervably to the attainment of even greater freedom it cannot perish – a fact which will become doubtlessly more annoying to the slave-masters as the years roll on. An understanding of Man There is much argument upon which we could adventure concerning whether Dianetics is an art or a science, whether it is a humanity or a hoax, but all this would avail us very little for we would only be quibbling with words. Dianetics is what it is, and the totality of it can best be summed by the description, ‘an understanding of Man’. We do not care whether or not it is a science. We do not care whether or not it is more properly catalogued under Adventure or Mystery. We do care whether or not it is promulgated and known, for everywhere it walks slavery ceases. What would be a free man? That mind which understands itself is the mind of a free man. It is no longer prone to obsessive behavior, unthinking compliances, covert innuendoes. It is at home in an environment, not a stranger. It is the solver of problems and the maker of games. A mind that is enslaved is weak. A mind that is free is powerful, and all the power there is, is defined by and contained in freedom. Why should you know something about your mind? Dianetics and psychosomatic illnesses The actual source of psychosomatic illness has been located in Dianetics. Physical illness, aches, pains, continual exhaustion, body malfunctions are created or held in an unchanging state by the mind. This is called psychosomatic (psycho = spirit, somatic = body ) illness. It has been known since the 19th century but there has never been a positive remedy before Dianetics. No drugs, no hypnotism, no mechanical treatment is used. The end product of Dianetics is a well, happy, high-IQ human being. Where does Dianetics come from? DIANETICS means “through the mind” (from Greek “dia” – through, and “noos” – mind). It is the first fully precise science of the mind. The world before Dianetics had never known a precision mental Science. Dianetics was first conceived in 1930. A long research in ancient and modern philosophy culminated in 1938 when I discovered that the common denominator of all existence was: Survive. The discovery of the Reactive mind In early Dianetics research the human mind and basic human character were found to have been most grossly maligned because Man had not been able to distinguish irrational conduct derived from another, far more vicious source. The Reactive Mind was discovered. The reactive mind is a portion of a person’s mind which works on a totally stimulus-response basis, which is not under his volitional control, and which exerts force and the power of command over his awareness, purposes, thoughts, body and actions. The isolation and resolution of the reactive mind was a major breakthrough for Man. The exact moment of the breakthrough is recorded at the public level with the book: “Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health”. How does the Reactive mind work? Stored in the Reactive Mind are engrams, and here we find the single source of aberrations and psychosomatic ills. An Engram is a mental image picture of an experience containing pain, unconsciousness, and a real or fancied threat to survival; it is a recording in the Reactive Mind of something which actually happened to an individual in the past and which contained pain and unconsciousness, both of which are recorded in the mental image picture called an engram. These engrams are a complete recording, down to the last accurate detail, of every perception present in a moment of partial or full unconsciousness. The Reactive Mind comprises an unknowing, unwanted series of aberrated computations which bring about an effect upon the individual and those around him. It is an obsessive strata of unknown, unseen, uninspected data which are forcing solutions, unknown and unsuspected, on the individual – which tells you why it remained hidden from man for so many thousands of years. What was before Dianetics? Various forms of “mental therapy” were in existence before Dianetics. Psychology and psychiatry were developed chiefly by a Russian veterinarian named Ivan Petrovich Pavlov (1849 1936). His basic principle was that men were only animals and could be conditioned and trained much like dancing bears or dogs. Psychoanalysis was developed by an Austrian, Sigmund Freud (1856-1939). His occasional successes served to point out that there was a possibility of solving psychosomatic illness through addressing the mind. His concentration on sex gave psychoanalysis considerable popularity. In its early years Dianetics, representing the severe viewpoint of the physical sciences, were considered highly controversial. Since that time many of its minor discoveries have been borrowed by the humanities. Dianetics and medicine There is no quarrel between Dianetics and general practitioners of the medical profession. They both have the same purpose (to make people well) and are not political. It is freely admitted in Dianetics that physical illness that can be effectively treated medically should be so treated. Auditing will not set a broken leg or deliver a baby. But it can help get the leg healed in two weeks instead of the usual six and after effects of childbirth do not exist when Dianetics auditing is also used. Dianetics belongs to those who use it! Man is being subjected to fantastic and violent efforts to lure or crush him into docility. Man’s response to this is riots and civil disorder in universities, unions and streets. Man does not accurately trace the source of oppression. He is violently worried. Dianetics is not only the first mental science developed in the West. It is the first mental science on the planet that uniformly produces beneficial results. Dianetics has progressed from the pre-Dianetics period of no science of the mind, to the existence of a real science of the mind, to a fast accurate science simpler than any other scientific subject and of more value to Man. The subject owes no allegiance to anyone but itself. It has no commitments to anyone. It has no politics. It belongs to those who use it. Dianetics makes a sane society Dianetics refused to be a revolutionary activity. It does not have to be. All it has as a mission is to get itself applied. The basic building block of a society is the individual. From individuals, groups are built. And this is the society. No society is better than its basic building blocks. Men are not animals. Well men are sane men. Dianetics, if applied to individuals in the society, brings hope, and well and sane beings. These well and sane beings, then become brilliant and very able beings. We are evolving Man to a higher state. In this state he can better handle his problems. Dianetics was the first practical workable easily taught technology of the mind. It has endured already over 60 years and is better and more used than ever before. Dianetics refuses to be a revolutionary activity. It doesn’t need to be. Its whole purpose is to be applied by itself. Dianetics is for use There are not a lot of complications about it. It isn’t something you use after bowing down three times to Chicago. You just use it. Any injurious experience can be erased by Dianetics. It is easy to use and if one wants people well and happy it should be used at every occasion. A person has an operation: his should be followed soon after by the erasure of the engram of the experience by the usual Dianetics auditor and often recovery will occur where a relapse might have followed. A woman has a child: The engram of delivery should be run out soon after. The result of doing so is very spectacular. There is no “postpartum psychosis” or dislike of the child and no permanent injury to the mother. It is in fact best to audit the mother both before and after delivery, which gives one fast relatively painless childbirth and quick recovery. Recovery from disease under treatment [by Medical Doctors] is speeded by Dianetics auditing. Some patients who are not responding to medical treatment who are then given as little as a touch assist will then be found responsive to the medical treatment. Use it! A person who is accident prone when audited usually loses this unwanted characteristic. Many “insane” recover from their symptoms when given proper medical treatment [medical, not psychiatric], rest, no harassment and then good mild Dianetics auditing. They become and remain normal people without relapse. Chronic, which is to say long term illnesses [which doctors may have given up on] cease when audited by Dianetics and then medical treatment which was earlier ineffective becomes effective. Tiredness, unwanted emotions, unwanted sensations, bizarre pains and aches, bad hearing or sight also routinely respond to Dianetics auditing. The sickness and death rate of persons who are part of Dianetics groups is only a small fraction of that of other groups. Pilots audited with Dianetics, by a test involving a whole squadron, went without a single even minor accident for the following year. Scientists audited with Dianetics have greatly improved intelligence. Dianetics raises IQ as a side product to usual auditing. Withered limbs, skin blotches and rashes and even blindness and deafness have all responded to Dianetics. The mind is the observer, creator, and problem-solver. It guides the organism toward a better life and stores all experiences. Discover its fascinating role. What is the Mind? The human mind is an observer, creations maker, and a storage place of knowledge. The difference between the brain and the mind The brain is the central, physical organ located in the head. The mind is not an organ. It is a system of communication and control between the individual and their environment. What is the purpose of the mind in regards to the individual? The purpose of the mind is to pose and resolve problems relating to survival and to direct the effort of the organism according to these solutions. The human mind is an observer, postulate maker, creator and storage place of knowledge. The mind is a self-protecting mechanism and will not permit itself to be seriously overloaded so long as it can retain partial awareness of itself. The individual man is divisible into three parts: The first of these is the spirit, called in Scientology the Thetan . The second of these parts is the Mind. The third is the Body. How does the mind function? The mind is a communication and control system between the Thetan and his environment. The mind is a network of communications and pictures, energies and masses, which are brought into being by the activities of the thetan versus the physical universe or other thetans. A thetan establishes various systems of control so that he can continue to operate a body and through the body operate things in the physical universe, as well as other bodies. What are mental image pictures? The most obvious portion of the mind is recognizable by anyone not in serious condition. This is the “mental image picture”. We call this mental image picture a facsimile when it is a “photograph” of the physical universe sometime in the past. We call this mental image picture a “mock-up” when it is created by the thetan or for the thetan and does not consist of a photograph of the physical universe. We call a mental image picture a “hallucination”, or more properly an automaticity (something uncontrolled) when it is created by another and seen by self. Various phenomena connect themselves with this entity called the mind. Some people closing their eyes see only blackness, some people see pictures. Some people see pictures made by body reactions. Some people see only black screens. Others see golden lines. Others see spaces. But the keynote of the entirety of the system called the mind is postulate and perception. Easily ten thousand new, separate mental phenomena, not hitherto seen by earlier observers, have been classified in Scientology and Dianetics. How does the mind interact with the thetan? The thetan receives, by the communication system called the mind, various impressions, including direct views of the physical universe. In addition to this he receives impressions from past activities and, most important, he himself, being close to a total knowingness, conceives things about the past and future which are independent of immediately present stimuli. The mind is not in its entirety a stimulus-response mechanism as once taught in universities. The Analytical Mind The analytical mind combines perceptions of the immediate environment, of the past (via pictures) and estimations of the future into conclusions which are based upon the realities of situations. The analytical mind combines the potential knowingness of the thetan with the conditions of his surroundings and brings him to independent conclusions. This mind could be said to consist of visual pictures either of the past or of the physical universe, monitored by, and presided over by, the knowingness of a thetan. The keynote of the analytical mind is awareness. One can say that this mind consists of perceptual images of the past or the physical universe, which are controlled and supervised by the knowledge of the thetan. The characteristic feature of the analytical mind is consciousness. One knows what one is concluding and knows what one is doing. The Reactive Mind The reactive mind is possessed by everyone. No human being examined anywhere was discovered to be without one or without aberrative content in his engram bank, the reservoir of data which serves the reactive mind. The reactive mind is a stimulus-response mechanism, ruggedly built, and operable in trying circumstances. The reactive mind never stops operating. Pictures of the environment, of a very low order, are taken by this mind even in deep states of unconsciousness. The reactive mind acts below the level of consciousness. It is the literal stimulus-response mind. Even in a state of deep unconsciousness, all processes are recorded by this reactive mind in the form of images – albeit of a very primitive nature. The reactive mind works below the level of consciousness. It works literal on a stimulus-reaction basis. Given a certain stimulus it gives a certain response. Dianetics concerned itself mainly with this one mind. While it is an order of thinkingness, the ability of the reactive mind to conclude rationally is so poor that we find in the reactive mind those various aberrated impulses which are gazed upon as oddities of personality, eccentricities, neuroses and psychoses. It is this reactive mind which stores up all the bad things that have happened to one and throws them back to him again in moments of emergency or danger so as to dictate his actions along lines which have been considered “safe” before. As there is little thinkingness involved in this, the courses of action dictated by the reactive mind are often not safe, but highly dangerous. The reactive mind is entirely literal in its interpretation of words and actions. As it takes pictures and receives impressions during moments of unconsciousness, a phrase uttered when a blow is struck is likely to be literally interpreted by the reactive mind and becomes active upon the body and analytical mind at later times. The mildest stage of this would be arduous training, wherein a pattern is laid into the mind for later use under certain given stimuli. A harsh and less workable level is the hypnotic trance condition to which the mind is susceptible. Made impressionable by fixed attention, words can be immediately implanted into the reactive mind which become operable under restimulation at later times. Blows, drugs, illnesses, pains and other unconscious situations An even lower level in the reactive mind is that one associated with blows, drugs, illness, pain and other conditions of unconsciousness. Phrases spoken over an anaesthetized person can have a later effect upon that person. It is not necessarily true that each and every portion of an operation is painstakingly “photographed” by the reactive mind of the unconscious patient, but it is true that a great many of these stimuli are registered. Complete silence, in the vicinity of a person under anaesthetic or a person who is unconscious or in deep pain, is mandatory if one would preserve the mental health of that person or patient afterwards. Probably the most therapeutic action which could occur to an individual would be, under Scientology auditing, the separation of the thetan from the mind so that the thetan, under no duress and with total knowingness, could view himself and his mind and act accordingly. However, there is a type of exteriorization which is the most aberrative of all traumatic (mentally injurious) actions. This is the condition when an individual is brought, through injury or surgery or shock, very close to death so that he exteriorizes from body and mind. This exteriorization under duress is sudden, and to the patient inexplicable, and is in itself very shocking. When this has occurred to an individual, it is certain that he will suffer mentally from the experience afterwards. It could be said that when the reactive mind contains these sudden shocks of exteriorization under duress, attempts to exteriorize the individual later by Scientology are more difficult. However, modern auditing processing has overcome this. The phenomenon of exteriorization under duress is accompanied at times by energy explosions in the various facsimiles of the mind, and these cross-associate in the reactive mind. Therefore, people become afraid of exteriorization, and at times people are made ill simply by discussing the phenomenon, due to the fact that they have exteriorized under duress, during some operation, or during some accident. How can a psychosomatic illness be created? In that the thetan is seldom aware of the reactive mind, it is possible then for the reactive mind, with its stimulus-response content, to impinge itself directly, and without further recourse or advice, upon the neurons, muscles and glandular system of the body. In that the reactive mind can hold a fixed command in place, causing a derangement in the mind, it is possible then for illness to exist, for bizarre pains to be felt, for actual physical twists and aberrations to occur, without any conscious knowledge on the part of the thetan. This we call physical illness caused by the mind. In brief, such illness is caused by perceptions received in the reactive mind during moments of pain and unconsciousness. The mental image pictures are capable of reacting upon the physical environment, and the physical environment is capable of reacting on mental image pictures. Finally, what is the body? The third part of man is the physical body. This can best be studied in anatomical texts. This is the province of the medical doctor. The body is a purely structural study, and the actions and reactions amongst its various structures are complex and intensely interesting. – L. Psychosomatic Illnesses and the Intelligence of the Clear A Clear can be tested for any and all psychoses, neuroses, compulsions and repressions (all aberrations) and can be examined for any self-generated diseases referred to as psychosomatic ills. These tests confirm the Clear to be entirely without such ills or aberrations. Additional tests of his intelligence indicate it to be high above the current norm. Observation of his activity demonstrates that he pursues existence with vigor and satisfaction. A neurotic individual can be given dianetics therapy to the end of clearing these neuroses and ills. Finally, he can be examined, with the above results. This is an experiment which has been performed many times with invariable results. It is a matter of laboratory test that all individuals who have organically complete nervous systems respond in this fashion to dianetics clearing. The Cause of Variable Perceptions of Man From person to person, smells, tactile sensations, organic perceptions, pain and gravity, vary widely and wildly. A cursory check around amongst your friends will demonstrate to a person that there exist enormous differences of perception of identical stimuli. One smells a turkey in the oven as wonderful, one smells it with indifference, another may not smell it at all. And somebody else may maintain that roasting turkey smells exactly like hair oil – to be extreme. Until we obtain Clears it remains obscure why such differences should exist. The Clear gets a maximum response compatible with his own desire for the response. Burning cordite still smells dangerous to him, but it does not make him ill. Roasting turkey smells good to him if he is hungry and likes turkey, at which time it smells very, very good. One, the wildest, is the variable caused by aberrations. The other, and quite rational and understandable, is caused by the personality. With the removal of aberrations, repeated tests have proven that the body makes a valiant effort to reconstruct back to optimum. It gives the advantage of examining the moving pictures and other sense perceptions recorded at the time of the event with all senses present. If one will ask his fellows what their abilities are, he will gain a remarkable idea of how widely varied this ability is from individual to individual. Some have this recall, some have that, some have none, but operate on concepts of recall only. And remember, if you make a test on those around you, that any perception is filed in the memory and therefore has a recall which is to include pain, temperature, rhythm, taste and weight with the above mentioned sight, sound, tactile, and smell. Aptitudes and Skills Regained by Being Clear The Clear has full color-visio, tone-sonic, tactile, olfactory (smell), rhythmic, kinesthetic (sense detecting bodily position, weight, or movement of the muscles, tendons, and joints), thermal and organic imagination in kind. Asked to envision himself riding in a gilded coach and four, he “sees” the equipage, moving, in full color, he “hears” all the noises which should be present, he “smells” the smells he thinks should be there, and he “feels” the upholstery, the motion, and the presence in the coach of himself. The Clear, then, is not an “adjusted” person, driven to activity by his repressions now thoroughly encysted. He is an unrepressed person, operating on self-determinism. Ron Hubbard Really Was An extraordinary and controversial philosopher Lafayette Ronald Hubbard was born on 13th of March 1911 in Tilden, Nebraska (USA). He spent his childhood on a ranch in Montana. From the age of 14 to 18 years old, he traveled throughout Asia (his father was in the US Army) and young Ron came into contact with Chinese and Hindu monks and thus, with Eastern philosophies. He began to explore the spiritual nature of the human beings. He returned to the United States at the age of 19 and enrolled at George Washington University to study engineering. As an integral part of his studies, he participated in one of the first nuclear physics courses. He earned his living during his studies and later, as a professional writer. He succeeded in his study of the human mind and wrote an unpublished book. "Everything you have always dreamed of changing or modifying can be changed with Dianetics and Scientology!" – L. Ron Hubbard During his youth, he participated in various explorations, sometimes as the expedition leader. During World War II his spiritual studies were interrupted. In 1944 he was stationed in the Philippines. The Dianetics Foundation was created in order to continue more in depth research of the human mind. And from there, leading in an increasingly spiritual direction to a new philosophy called “Scientology”. Its purposes and techniques aimed at improving the abilities of the human spirit. Scientology was a huge success and in a few years, a global organization had to be set up to coordinate and ensure the correct application of this new technology. In 1966, L. Ron Hubbard retreated from his official responsibilities in the organization to dedicate more time to his research, which he had conducted continuously since 1950. He delegated his previous responsibilities to others. Unfortunately the organization he founded and its original purpose was increasingly undermined over time. The circumstances of L. Ron Hubbard’s death including the exact date of his death has not been established. His work and writings are timeless and are a gift to humanity – forever! Origin of FreeZone The Origin of the FreeZone Early on, L. Ron Hubbard had a premonition of what could happen with the church of Scientology and he himself warned: "… And then someday – me gone, other guys gone – all of a sudden there sits this thing, this organization. And somebody has to rise up and say, “Auditors of the world, unite; overthrow this monster!” And everybody would see it go down very plainly, you see. Down it’d go. "Then they’d say, “Fine! Now we are free.” And they would get another handful of letters cancelling their certificates. I try to look far enough in the future to forecast and predict what might be, so as to not do too many things wrong. You must allow me some percentage. And as I look into the future, I see that we are handling here, material of a potential control and command over mankind which must not be permitted at any time to become the monopoly or the tool of the few to the danger and disaster of the many. And maybe in this I am simply being overly proud, conceited or optimistic. But I would never for a moment step back from the role of being conceited just to be approved of, or just to be wrong in a prediction. "And I believe that prediction is right. And I believe that the freedom of the material which we know and understand is guaranteed only by a lightness of organization, a maximum of people, good training and good, reliable, sound relay of information. And if we can do these things, we will win. But if we can’t do these things, sooner or later the information which we hold will become the property of an untrustworthy few." – L. Ron Hubbard Lecture 15, lecture ASMC-15, 6 June 1955 Ernie Martin, a close associate of L. Ron Hubbard and someone who was responsible for the security of the Hubbard family, unequivocally claimed that L. Ron Hubbard said emphatically, in the early ’70s, that if the church of Scientology became increasingly difficult and even impossible to live with, he should leave and start again under the name of “FreeZone”. Bill Robertson also stated that L. Ron Hubbard had told him the same thing. Since the beginning of the ’80s it had effectively become impossible to work in any way whatsoever with the church of Scientology; Bill Robertson and Ernie Martin left the church and did what L. Ron Hubbard said. Bill Robertson moved to Europe, where he lived in Germany, Switzerland and France and also in other countries that responded to the call and the Ron’s Org Network was established. The terms “Ron’s Org” and “FreeZone” are synonymous to some extent. “RON’S (Org)” is an acronym for Ron’s Organization and Network for Standard Technology. The “FreeZone” further refers to the overall movement as such and includes many members who have withdrawn from the church of Scientology. The Alternative The Alternative to the Church of Scientology A distinction must be made between the original teaching of Scientology, the so-called church of Scientology and the Ron’s Org as the alternative to the church of Scientology. Just as there is a clear distinction between Christianity, the Inquisition and the various Christian churches. At the Ron’s Org, you will find the original Scientology as developed and written by L.
